Heal Yourself, Skeletor

Skeletor is experiencing the profound emptiness and isolation of human existence. Follow his journey to positive mental health through daily affirmations.
Skeletor Is Love - Thanks (by ghoulnextdoor)
Your outpouring of love, support, & compassion regarding our appeal for National Alliance on Mental Illness NAMIWalk donations has been amazing, humbling, & truly inspiring. Thank you for your stories and your support - we appreciate it! We are still fundraising through the next few weeks to reach our goal, so there is plenty of time should you wish to contribute. http://namiwalks.nami.org/twistedsisters
AGAIN, THANK YOU. YOU ARE ALL AMAZING HUMAN BEINGS. P.S. Regular content will resume next week

Long time followers know that a year or two ago I started up Skeletor is Love and although I no longer spam you all with it over on this account, it exists as both a tumblr and a facebook page which I maintain regularly and whose fanbase -somehow!- continues to grow.
I’ve probably also told you about my sister - an amazing mental health guidance counselor - who was the inspiration for Skeletor Is Love. Unbeknownst to her at the time!
Well, this year my sister and I are participating as a team (The Twisted Sisters!) for the National Alliance on Mental Illness annual NAMIWalk.  She does it every year, though this will be my first time.  Raising awareness for mental illness is a cause that is very near and dear to both of us, to our family, and, as you can imagine - to Skeletor Is Love.
People reach out to me constantly wanting to donate in some way to Skeletor Is Love; telling me they’ve printed up the images to give as gifts and they want to pay me for it, asking if we were ever going to sell tee shirts because they’d throw money at us if that were the case, all kinds of offers for support.  We are never going to put a donate button on the sites and we are not here to take your money, but if you are serious about wanting to contribute, please consider donating to our team and lending your support to the mental health community.

pandabatman asked: I thought you might like to know that I sent an affirmation to my mother, who teaches mindfulness to elementary school children. She printed it out and taped it to the front of her computer. My brothers and I grew up playing with He-men so she's familiar with Skeletor & now loves your tumblr. I was going to send you a picture, but I can't find where to attach it. The affirmation is "I am grateful for the difficult people in my life. They allow me to practice patience and tolerance." Thanks!

That’s fantastic!  We at Skeletor is Love have the utmost respect for educators and other folks who work within the educational system.  We have mentioned it her before - it was our sister, a school mental health guidance counselor, who inspired Skeletor is Love to begin with!
Give your mom a hug and tell her you appreciate her and all she does :)

TODAY I WILL…TRY AGAIN TOMORROW.

TODAY I WILL…TRY AGAIN TOMORROW.

We try to keep personal business off of the Skeletor Is Love blog here as much as we can, but please consider the following reblog.  Without the people mentioned in the post below, Skeletor Is Love would not exist at all. Thanks for reading, everyone - and as always, thanks for your support.

The explanation for everything lies hidden behind the beautiful forevers.
My beautiful, brilliant sister composed this bit of shelf poetry for me this morning.
I don’t normally post things like this here, but I am doing this for her, and for our mother and for everyone who has struggled with, or lost someone they love to cancer.
My sister is participating in Relay For Life, as she has done for many years now, and is looking for support and donations.
In her words:
"I have seen cancer take the life and vitality of too many amazing people. And then, just nine days before Christmas 2013, my mother passed away after a year-long struggle with lung cancer. She was just 65.
I’m terrified that cancer will destroy me. I’m terrified that it will destroy you.
Participating in this relay is my own quiet, pre-emptive war against the cancer that I fear lies in wait for too many of us. I hope you can help in this fight.”
